Deanna R. Adams (that’s me) is a Cleveland area freelance writer, award-winning essayist, speaker and author. My articles and essays have been published in a variety of newspapers and magazines through 20 years of blood, sweat, tears, rejections and a few accolades. My first book, Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Cleveland Connection (Kent State University Press) published in 2002, was a finalist for the 2003 Ohioana Award for nonfiction, and the 2003 ARSC Awards (Association for Recorded Sound Collections) for excellence in research. My awards include the 2004 “Best Essay,” sponsored by 84 Charing Cross Bookstore, and a 2009 Ohio Excellence in Journalism Award. I am also author of an essay collection, Confessions of a Not-So-Good Catholic Girl, published in 2008. I am an instructor at Lakeland Community College, and The Lit (Cleveland’s Literary Center), where I speak and teach on a number of writing topics. I am director/coordinator of the Western Reserve Writers Conference, and founder of the Women Writers’ Winter Retreat. My web site is http://www.deannaadams.com.
My latest book is Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Roots, by Arcadia Publishing. Whereas my first book, Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Cleveland Connection, brought together rock and roll lovers from around the globe (some who never realized the impact Cleveland had on this music genre) this new book, with its 200 vintage photographs, will spark fond memories and produce laughable moments for baby boomers, as well as their children who may never have seen a vinyl record!
I am currently working on my first novel. What fun!
Deanna, I saw the Images of America series book you did. How does that work doing a project with that company? How well does it pay? How big a problem is it gathering the pictures?
I saw your posting on the PW forum and looked at the blog and web site. Good luck with them. I just started two blogs myself and am trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t.
Sorry this response is late, busy summer. Please email me at DeeNCR@aol.com
